Shillong, November 25, 2016: Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, who is on an official visit to the country, paid a visit to Don Bosco Museum at Mawlai in the pine city of Shillong today.
The Thai princess and her entourage were received by Fr. Joseph Puthenpurakal, director of the museum at the entrance.
The princess toured four of the twenty galleries for about twenty minutes – writing down information and taking photos with her mobile phone as she came across some of the exhibits.
Before she left the museum, she signed in the visitors’ book.
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is in India to receive the first “World Sanskrit Award” at the invitation of the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Featured among the top 10 museums in India in a recent survey, Don Bosco Museum in Shillong is aimed at preserving and promoting indigenous cultures of the North East. It is also a favourite tourists spot in the region. It received more than 90,000 visitors from India and abroad during the past year.
