The North East of India is composed of eight states known as Seven Sisters and a brother called Sikkim. The seven sisters are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The history of these State shaving International borders shows that there gion is particularly sensitive. Anti social elements do createproblems. The complex situations of the North East calls for research in theare a of Anthropology, Sociology, Cultural Studies, History, Politics, etc. It would require more than one research jounal to bring clarity to the region. Anthropology Today: An International Peer - Reviewed NEIRA Journal will play its humble role in bringing more clarity to the overall situation. Encouragement and financial support for the first two issues came from Shri K.K. Paul, the then Governor of Meghalaya. There lease of the first issue took place in Raj BhavanbyShri. V. Shanmugana than the Governor of Meghalaya on 2nd August, 2015. The second issue was released on 10th February 2016 by the Most Rev. Dr. Dominic Jala Archbishop of Shillong on the occasion of the inauguration of Semester II of the academicyear 2015-2016 at Sacred Heart Theological College, Shillong. The journal articles are appreciated both by scholars and students a like.
To encourage and facilitate anthropological research across the States of North East India with the aim of rendering the complexities of the region more legible, and to accumulate valuable data on the swiftly changing cultures and traditions, Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC) brings out a Journal – Anthropology Today: An International Peer Reviewed NEIRA Journal (ISSN 2454-2709) since August 2015. The journal will come out bi-annually in August and February each year.

DBCIC welcomes the submission of papers, manuscript, book reviews, and other materials for publication in keeping with the nature of the journal which is based on “indigenous peoples, heritage domains, sustainable development and inclusive programmes.” Scholars and researchers are welcome to submit their research papers and articles on the following possible areas for the forthcoming issues:

NEIRA Journal (Anthropology Today: An International Peer Reviewed NEIRA Journal) follows a combination of APA & MLA styles to allow authors who have heavy footnotes and which cannot be easily shortened. However, NEIRA Journal prefers the APA stylesheet.
